The Union Cabinet has approved the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY), a scheme to promote floating solar power projects in India with a budget of Rs. 5,070 crore. It aims to deploy 5,000 MW of solar energy, enhance renewable capacity, and create 16,000 jobs while reducing carbon emissions significantly.
