India has become a global clean energy leader, ranking third in renewable energy capacity, as reported by the International Renewable Energy Agency. In 2025-26, India added a record 55.3 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity, achieving 51.5% of total electricity demand from renewables. The country aims for 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030.
