Egypt has announced plans to add 2,500 MW of renewable energy capacity to the country’s electricity grid before next summer. The country also discussed comprehensive action plans to secure fuel supplies and ensure grid stability, emphasizing the integration of these new renewable sources as a key focus. However, Egypt intends to maintain a strategic petroleum products reserve and allocate funding for energy sector projects. Elsewedy Electric for Power Transmission and Distribution announced the completion and handover of the El Saad Solar Plant, with a peak generation capacity of 348.6 MW. The project was developed in partnership with Jinko Power and Al Ghazala Energy Company. The generated solar power will be supplied to the Saudi Power Procurement Company. Elsewedy Electric claimed that the project was completed in 16.5 months, well ahead of the 24-month deadline.
